Here we are, the weekend after the big election. I thought life might slow down a bit, but it is as hectic as ever. Today I continue posting photos that have already been scanned into the computer. I have a long way to go before I scan new ones.
These are some of the slides that were taken in the late 1950's. They were taken in Los Angeles. We would spend the summer on the road with grandpa and grandma selling drygoods to the Amish. Grandpa would spend weeks folding the cloth by the yard and packing it into boxes. He shipped it to railroad sidings in many different Amish towns. We would pull the trailer into town and park it in a trailer court. Either Susie or I would go with him to the train siding and load up the trunk of his car every day and make our rounds from door to door with the Amish. After Iowa we would load what was left into the trailer and make our way west to Los Angeles.

Grandma with (Name these folks???)
Grandma with her good friend Betty Wilson. Arine and Judy might remember the Wilsons? They had a shoe store and we would all go and play with their xray machine. We would get on and watch the bones in our feet.
Grandpa and grandma with Aunt Harriet, Uncle Sy and the kidlets. My cousins Roslyn and Sheryl are much closer in age to my children, Rob and Pete, than they are to me. Grandpa Bill was gaga over them. It had been so long since we had babies in the family and he adored them more than you can imagine. We all felt that way.

Saturday, November 3, 2012 - The Edith and Szrulik Korsh Family
I am now looking through slides that I scanned. I came across a Korsh family celebration. For the first time we see Aunt Clara Poland (Zaida Sam's youngest sister.) She is the mother of Aimie Katz who is the mother of Jimmy (a wonderful cousin who died at too early an age), Cathy and Sam (who ran for mayor of Philadelphia.) Sam has a wonderful wife and four lovely children.
Atlantic City again- Szrulik, Ethel and Aunt Anna Greenberg (Joe).
This is the first picture I have come across of Szrulik and Edith Korsh, Jimmy's mom and day and Erik, Aaron and Joanna's grandparents. They were the best of friends to Grandpa Bill and Grandma Elaine as well as cousins. They shared the same progressive political core. Two really wonderful and special people.
Another picture or Aunt Clara. Esther Gerstein's back is to us.

Faigie on the beach. By the way, Faigie was a nickname for Florence. It means, little bird. We had a lot of Florence's and Esther's in this family.
Rhea is in this group shot. Would love to remember who the rest of the folks are.

A day of misc. more to come today
I have just gotten home after nine hours of working the early voting polls and canvassing to get voters out today on our last day of early voting. Here in Florida they not only cut our early voting days in half, but cut out Sunday, the heaviest voting day of all in early voting. I know that if my Dad were alive, he would be out here with me working his heart out on this election.
I know that I have not yet posted any photos of so many of my wonderful cousins. I am going to search through the photos I have on the computer picking out ones that I already have. I still have not had time to scan others, so please forgive me. I love you all and when I can, each one of you will be represented on this blog. Please email me photos you want to see here.
The first three pictures of are of me1947, Susan- 1954 and Susan- Pre-teen
Below are Debora and Michael and Debby in costume.

A few more from the collection
We were living in Clifton Heights. Grandpa bought the house in his GI loan. Aunt Esther and Uncle Morrie moved in two doors down with Arline and Judy. I was three when we moved there. Grandpa had a mimeo machine on which he would print fliers for the CP and take them back to Philly for distribution. On occasion, Jack and Nancy Bruin would come to visit with Janet and Marian and pick up the fliers and take them back with them. In the picture is a near-by school and playground that we would go to. On the swings are Fanny, Bubba and Aunt Harriet.
In the lower picture are Bubba, Zaida, Uncle Morrie and Judy.
Aunt Harriet and Uncle Sy when they were courting in 1954.
